Panerai - SS - Egyptian Navy Divers' Watch and Gauge Set

Size: 60mm. diameter (watch); 69mm. (compass); 70mm. (depth gauge)
Condition: Excellent. There is a bit of rust on the bezel of the wrist compas.

Description: This is a very rare set of a Radiomir divers' watch, a wrist compass and a wrist depth gauge, made by Panerai for the Egyptian Navy in the late 1950s. The watch features an Angelus 8-day movement, a black dial (which has faded to a beautiful chocolate brown) with luminous Arabic and baton numerals and eccentric seconds at 9 o'clock. The massive case has a rotating bezel with raised bumps at the hours, a large crown guard lock and a back secured by 6 screws. The watch has never been polished or detailed and is in beautiful condition with its original large strap and buckle. The jumbo depth gauge and the compas both have their original straps and buckles. All three pieces were originally intended to be worn on the outside of a diver's suit sleeve and to be read under water- which accounts for the large size of each piece. Complete sets of the tree pieces, such as the present one, are extremely rare and generally do not come in such great condition.
